Job Description

The purpose of the General Superintendent is to oversee all field construction activities for assigned craft areas, ensuring conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.

This role requires authoritative knowledge of the assigned work, a holistic understanding of complex situations, and the ability to assess the overall project picture and alternative approaches. The position involves directing other line supervision to meet or exceed project objectives, coordinating and directing all construction crafts within the assigned area, and serving as the most senior craft authority on site within their responsibilities.

  • Plan and direct work activities for assigned construction crafts in alignment with engineering deliverables, tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Approve or coordinate craft personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules; establish construction crew organization and composition, including qualification levels and supervisory roles.
  • Support project management with planning and utilization of construction means and methods.
  • Analyze situations, forecast problems, evaluate options, and recommend or implement solutions.
  • Adhere to Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.

Basic Job Requirements
  • Craft certification, training, and experience appropriate for the scope; at least 18 years of directly related experience; additional local qualifications may apply.
  • Effective communication skills with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to perform the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within time constraints.
Other Job Requirements
  • Typically oversee subordinate superintendents and craft supervision roles.
  • Coordinate activities within active construction areas.
  • Support craft activities and ensure work is within scope and compliant with all requirements.
  • Represent the company as the senior onsite staff overseeing craft work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to promote customer service and client relations.
  • Interpersonal, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer skills including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Knowledge in project controls, human relations, industrial relations, and contract management.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Salary Range

$135,000 to $250,000, based on market rate and individual qualifications.
