Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (“HQC US”) develops, invests, and delivers solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects through Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) services in North America.

The company brings a decade of global leadership in solar PV to deliver utility-scale power generation plants customized for local and regional energy markets. HQC US offers the full spectrum of PV solutions – from the core technology of cells and modules to large-scale project development and investment.

SUMMARY

The General Superintendent, Foundations will manage the various project team members as it relates to their craft. Establish standards, training, and leadership for the construction team and department. This position reports to the Senior Director of Construction, or another management personnel designated by the President of the Company. This position is located in Irvine, CA and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 50%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position;
  2. Manage and lead the superintendents and their craft throughout the duration of the project;
  3. Assist in developing detailed CPM schedules for all installation activities and in developing a schedule of values to aid the billing process;
  4. Coordinate activities, schedule, material procurement, project logistics, and temporary facility plans with the project manager and field staff;
  5. Review and approve materials/equipment for Mechanical/Structural systems and monitor the installation and startup of those systems, resolving any conflicts prior to starting work;
  6. Prepare reports and communicate progress to Project Managers/Directors as needed, and to project Owners during weekly meetings;
  7. Review contract documents and make improvement suggestions as needed;
  8. Supervise, develop, and mentor Electrical/Mechanical/Structural/Civil Project Engineers;
  9. Supervise, review, and coordinate submittals and shop drawings;
  10. Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results;
  11. Provide cost estimation, including but not limited to:
  12. Site Due Diligence – Evaluate potential project sites as part of development due diligence;
  13. Identify and project costs related to time, materials, and labor;
  14. Track actual costs and assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services;
  15. Cost reporting – Prepare reports regarding the current status of a project to show estimated costs, revenues, and project timeline;
  16. Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by the Director of Project Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 7+ years experience in site supervision;
  2. Proven track record as a Superintendent on large projects with values above $20 million (electrical portions of contracts);
  3. Thorough knowledge of Construction Code;
  4. Medium Voltage experience;
  5. General understanding of building codes, mechanical codes, electrical codes, and plumbing codes as they relate to construction of project;
  6. Experience dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors;
  7. Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience managing the performance of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects;
  8. Minimum of 2 years of solar PV or wind power project experience, preferred;
  9. Ability to travel, up to 50% of the time;
  10. Industrial relations knowledge for recognizing and resolving potential labor issues;
  11. Knowledge of Company construction guides and manuals;
  12. Construction safety awareness and comprehension;
  13. Conflict Management Skills;
  14. Multi-tasking Ability (prioritize, organize, schedule work);
  15. Problem-solving Skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve);
  16. Communication Skills;
  17. Constructability Knowledge within discipline;
  18. Constructability Knowledge within other disciplines such as Structural, Civil, Electrical, HV electrical, SCADA, BESS, Estimating;

  25. Extensive work experience in management and completion of large scale projects in a responsible position (particularly, solar HV & PV projects);
  26. Appropriate leadership experience;
  27. Demonstrated ability in managing projects: development, planning, installation and execution;
  28. Knowledge in Microsoft office tools;
  29. Fluent in written and spoken English; other language skills are a plus;
  30. Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  31. Lead team meetings over conference calls;
  32. Assertive, able to cope with pressure, and be a team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Stationary Position: frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sitting up to 8 hours in a day;
  2. Move/Traverse: infrequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk;
  3. Carry Weight: infrequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 10 pounds;
  4. Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations;
  5. Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far;
  6. Climb: occasionally ascends/descends on stairway to get to office upper and lower floors;
  7. Travel: up to 50% as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Regular professional, office business setting;
  2. Noise level ranges from low to moderate (if in office setting);
  3. Noise level ranges from moderate to high (if on construction worksite).
