Role

The General Superintendent – Data Centers is responsible for leading field execution across Building US’s most complex, large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. This role provides overarching field leadership, ensuring alignment across multiple projects, clients, Superintendents, scopes of work, and project phases. Partnering closely with the Project Executive (PX) and Construction Executive (CX), this leader is accountable for driving safety, quality, schedule, and execution strategy across the project portfolio. The General Superintendent serves as the field authority, ensuring seamless coordination of all trades, with a strong emphasis on MEP integration, commissioning readiness, and schedule certainty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall field leadership across multiple, concurrent large-scale data center projects, overseeing multiple Project Superintendents and field teams
  • Drive execution across all phases of construction, ensuring alignment with project goals, SPW performance, and client expectations
  • Serve as the primary field authority, able to quickly assess project health and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Partner with PX/CX to ensure successful delivery across safety, quality, schedule, and cost
Data Center Execution & MEP Integration
  • Lead coordination and execution of complex mission-critical systems, including electrical distribution, cooling infrastructure, backup power (generators/UPS), and redundancy systems
  • Ensure integration of all building systems to meet uptime, commissioning, and performance requirements
  • Partner with commissioning agents and trade partners to drive readiness, testing, and turnover
  • Develop and oversee execution strategies that support prefabrication, modularization, and accelerated delivery models
Execution Strategy & Constructability
  • Lead detailed constructability reviews, focusing on sequencing, logistics, and risk mitigation for large-scale projects
  • Develop and implement Business Unit-wide execution strategies including staff planning, phasing, pull planning, and resource allocation
  • Ensure alignment across all trade partners to maintain schedule integrity and critical path milestones
Superintendent Leadership & Development
  • Attract, Lead, mentor, and develop Project Superintendents and field staff across multiple scopes and phases
  • Establish clear expectations for field execution, safety, and performance standards
  • Partner with other Field Operations leadership to support and evolve the Project Superintendent development program
  • Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement across field teams
Scheduling & Project Controls
  • Develop and oversee master project schedules using MS Project and/or Primavera P6, ensuring alignment across all workstreams
  • Drive schedule accountability across trade partners and internal teams
  • Identify risks early and adjust sequencing and resources to maintain aggressive delivery timelines
Safety, Quality & Operational Excellence
  • Champion Building US’s safety-first culture, ensuring industry-leading safety performance across all project activities
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards and inspection protocols
  • Promote and enforce Building US procedures across safety, quality, and project controls
Technology & Field Innovation
  • Lead adoption of field technologies including BIM coordination, digital document management, and platforms such as Bluebeam
  • Support implementation of advanced construction methodologies, including prefabrication and digital coordination
  • Support pursuits, client presentations, and business development efforts within the data center and mission-critical market
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Represent Building US as a trusted partner in the delivery of complex, high-profile projects
Qualifications & Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in construction, with significant experience in data center and mission-critical projects
  • Proven experience leading multiple, concurrent large, data center projects with high complexity and multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Deep knowledge of building systems including structural, envelope, and highly complex MEP systems
  • Extensive experience managing self-performed work (SPW)
  • OSHA 30 certification required
  • LEED GA preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple Superintendents and large field teams across complex projects
  • Proven track record of exceptional safety performance
  • Advanced scheduling expertise using MS Project and/or Primavera P6
  • Strong experience with BIM coordination, Bluebeam, and field technology platforms
  • Deep understanding of commissioning processes and mission-critical system integration
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Well-established reputation with subcontractors and industry partners
  • Deep expertise in data center and mission-critical construction
