Job summary

Sun Country Builders, Inc. is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations for multifamily affordable housing projects across California.

You will direct construction activities, ensure safety, manage schedules and budgets, and uphold quality standards throughout all project phases. The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of construction practices, and the ability to mentor field teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible construction supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, quality control, safety, and subcontractor management.
• Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, SWPPP requirements, and applicable building codes.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for assigned construction projects.
• Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with plans, schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Support project teams in resolving construction issues and code-related challenges.
• Maintain project schedules and monitor labor productivity.
• Directly supervise Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents.
• Conduct performance reviews, mentoring, and training for field personnel.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of field staff.
• Provide preconstruction expertise related to logistics, scheduling, subcontractor selection, and constructability.
• Attend owner and subcontractor meetings as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, SWPPP, IIPP, and company safety standards.
• Oversee turnover, punch list completion, and warranty support activities.
• Recommend process improvements, best practices, and emerging construction technologies.
• Provide regular project status updates to executive leadership.

Position Overview

Education Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Frequent travel to active construction sites.
• Ability to walk uneven terrain and perform site inspections.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb as required.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
