General Store Cashier (Full and Part-Time Seasonal) Summer 2025 (Sales)

Summary

Position responsible for selling General Store Inventory to the public, obtaining payment for goods sold, operating the cash register, and balancing daily receipts. As part of our customer-focused organization, a crucial role is to attract and retain guests. Employees are expected to serve as Targhee ambassadors, engaging guests at every opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide superior service to all customers with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
  2. Greet customers and identify their needs.
  3. Check in new merchandise, stock shelves, and maintain displays.
  4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of store inventory.
  5. Observe scheduled work times and conduct physical inventories as needed.
  6. Handle problem customers respectfully.
  7. Cross-train to assist in other outlets as needed.
  8. Guide customers to appropriate merchandise and provide purchase information.
  9. Accept payments courteously, process transactions accurately, and verify credit card payments.
  10. Balance cash register at start and end of shifts following policies.
  11. Work flexible hours; some job sharing may be required.
  12. Verify age when selling alcohol or tobacco.

Safety Responsibilities

  1. Ensure safety of self, co-workers, and guests at all times.
  2. Report unsafe equipment or situations immediately.
  3. Report accidents and incidents promptly.
  4. Follow all safety policies and operate equipment safely.
  5. Drive lawfully and according to resort policies.

Work Schedule & Commitment

This seasonal position requires availability from June 4th to September 17th. The resort operates seven days a week, including holidays. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary based on business needs.

Qualifications

Must be 21 or older, skilled in cash register operation, with previous cash handling and guest service experience preferred. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED; 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent.

  • Basic math skills for handling transactions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure safety.

Physical Demands

Requires standing, walking, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, tasting, smelling, sitting (occasionally), and lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision.

Work Environment
