Job Description

Primary Purpose

Performs shop helper duties throughout the shop as directed. Assists welders in finishing work, such as grinding, cutting, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assists in staging production for welders and others in the facility, providing necessary supplies, fixtures, and pallets to complete staged jobs.
• Prepares weldments for shipping, including palletizing, banding, wrapping, and labeling.
• Operates robotic welding equipment to produce scissor assemblies and fabricated metal parts, loads and unloads parts, checks weld quality, and inspects weldments.
• Observes robot operation to detect defects or malfunctions and reports issues outside product specifications.
• Uses hand or bench grinders and power tools to chip or grind off burrs, sharp edges, excess weld, slag, or spatter.
• Performs maintenance and custodial duties as needed.
• Follows safety regulations and maintains a safe working environment, correcting issues as necessary.
