General Service Technician (Tire & Lube Tech)

Positions are available in retail locations, field management, and store operations at our Store Support Center in Rochester, NY. The General Service Technician role is a full-time or part-time hourly position based on business needs. Responsibilities include performing routine vehicle repairs and maintenance according to company standards and manufacturer specifications, delivering exceptional 5-star service, and communicating effectively with guests about vehicle issues and solutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform basic vehicle services and repairs efficiently and accurately, adhering to Monro standards.
  2. Conduct tire services such as wheel removal, balancing, patch/plug repairs, mounting, installation, and TPMS service.
  3. Perform vehicle services including lubrications, oil changes, basic maintenance (e.g., bulb, wiper blade, filter replacements), and battery testing and installation.
  4. Complete Monro’s Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle, identifying and communicating additional needed services.
  5. Assist in inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading, and stocking inventory.
  6. Maintain store cleanliness and ensure it is guest-ready, supporting all general store duties.
  7. Perform services in compliance with safety standards, including wheel torque, oil safety, and environmental procedures.
  8. Test drive vehicles following Monro’s Road Test policy, observing traffic laws and safety protocols.
  9. Adhere to company policies, governmental standards, and safety procedures, including environmental and OSHA standards.
  10. Maintain technical knowledge through completion of Monro University training courses.
  11. Operate and maintain equipment safely, including lifts, welders, and brake lathes.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Profile Summary:

Ability to identify problems, analyze data, and recommend solutions; strong communication skills for technical issues and reports.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Automotive training or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Own basic tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.
