Job Description

Compensation: $16-19 per hour

The General Service Technician role involves both front and back shop duties, including at least two days per week at the front counter. Responsibilities include performing routine vehicle repairs and maintenance, communicating effectively with guests about vehicle issues, and acting as a key holder and manager on duty when needed. The role emphasizes providing excellent guest experiences, driving sales, and maintaining a welcoming store environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform basic vehicle services and repairs efficiently and according to standards.
  2. Conduct tire services such as wheel removal, balancing, patching, mounting, and TPMS repairs.
  3. Perform vehicle services including oil changes, lubrications, basic maintenance, and battery testing/installation.
  4. Complete Courtesy Inspections on every guest vehicle, identifying and communicating additional service needs.
  5. Assist in inventory management, including pulling and stocking tires and parts.
  6. Maintain store cleanliness and ensure a guest-ready environment.
  7. Follow safety standards, including torque, oil safety, and compliance procedures.
  8. Test drive vehicles following company policies, observing traffic and safety laws.
  9. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety standards, including environmental and OSHA regulations.
  10. Maintain technical knowledge through training and certification courses.
  11. Operate and maintain equipment safely and properly.
  12. Assist management with guest care, work orders, facility maintenance, and purchase orders.
  13. Perform opening and closing duties as a secondary key holder.
  14. Communicate effectively about products and services offered.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Automotive training or experience in basic car maintenance and repair.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Own basic tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.
