Job summary

Don Foshay's Discount Tire & Alignment in Maine is seeking an Automotive General Service Technician to perform tire mounting, balancing, oil changes, and fluid services, ensuring precise maintenance to keep vehicles safe on the road.

You will carry out tire mounting/balancing, routine maintenance, inspections, and shop upkeep, with opportunities to grow skills and advance in a family‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of automotive systems; PC-based diagnostic tools experience is a plus.
• Previous experience in automotive maintenance or repair preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Mount, balance, and install tires with precision and care.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid flushes and replacements, belt and hose replacements, battery testing and installation, and general repairs.

As an Automotive General Service Technician, you'll be responsible for performing vital maintenance services that help keep our customers safe on the road. Whether it's installing and rotating tires, changing oil, or handling fluid services, you’ll demonstrate precision and efficiency while laying the groundwork for a fulfilling career in the automotive industry.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Mount, balance, and install tires with precision and care.
• Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, fluid flushes and replacements, belt and hose replacements, battery testing and installation, and general automotive repairs.
• Conduct thorough visual inspections of vehicles and accurately document any findings.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of shop equipment, including servicing portable fluid drains according to shop protocols.
• Actively expands automotive knowledge and technical skills to support long-term career development.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support shop operations and team success.

What You'll Bring with You:

• Basic understanding of automotive systems; experience with PC-based diagnostic tools and/or digital inspections are a plus.
• Previous experience in automotive maintenance or repair is preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license is strongly preferred.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
• Must be able to lift and move work-related items up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to push, pull, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
