Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and light repairs on a variety of equipment and vehicles including heavy equipment, trucks, light vehicles and specialized railroad equipment.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify problems with vehicle systems and test parts to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors.
- Assist senior mechanics with repairs and perform minor repairs on electrical, engine, and other systems.
- Complete required paperwork associated with repairs, maintenance and inspections.
- Organize, clean, and maintain a safe work area.
- Model safe work habits and always abide by all safety policies and procedures.
- Safely and efficiently perform all other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance or repair.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and socket sets.
- Familiarity with electrical systems in vehicles and ability to use diagnostic tools like the ohmmeter for troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions.
- Ability to follow technical manuals, diagrams, and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to document work performed clearly and accurately.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in automotive or diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
- Able to work on uneven surfaces; frequently climb on/off equipment; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended time.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
Pre-Employment Testing
