Overview
Big O General Service Technicians perform service and installation activities associated with store products and services in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities

  1. Drain oil and change oil filter; lubricate vehicles; install, rotate and balance tires and properly torque wheels; check and fill various fluids; check and replace various filters and lights.
  2. Unload tires and other merchandise and supplies from transport trucks and warehouse deliveries.
  3. Inspect disposed tires for adjustment and properly store or dispose of tires.
  4. Clean facilities, tools, and equipment and stock shelves.
  5. Consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer and provide fast and friendly customer service.
  6. Promote sales through explaining benefits of service and products to customers.
  7. Perform all necessary sales duties per company policy and procedure; including, but not limited to proper pricing, knowledge and implementation of promotions and sales, suggestive selling, proper vendor check-in, stocking merchandise.
  8. Maintain internal and external store appearance to comply with Big O Tires standards.
  9. Safely operate customer vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions, moving vehicles as needed to, and away from, service areas.
  10. Complete daily Today’s Class Technician and other required training timely.
  11. Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
  12. Keep supervisor informed of any maintenance problems and/or any issues that need attention.
  13. Assist in the proper training of new employees as needed.
  14. Adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures, and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  1. 17 years of age (with parental consent) or older.
  2. Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials.
  3. Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery.
  4. Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  5. Effective communication skills with customers.
  6. Willingness to work with hazardous materials and in outdoor weather conditions.
  7. Compliance with PPE regulations.
  8. Physical ability to move and retrieve items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  9. Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after hours as needed.
  10. Proficiency in English language communication.
  11. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and ability to obtain a Motor Vehicle Inspection within 6 months (for Missouri stores).

Preferred Skills

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Strong verbal communication skills.
  3. Valid driver’s license.
  4. Ability to work independently and in teams.
  5. Ability to work at a fast pace and sales skills.
