This role represents Mayo Clinic as one of the first contact points a patient or visitor will encounter upon arriving to campus, and serves as a critical team member in facilitating patient visits. The General Services Attendant demonstrates professionalism, effective communication and listening skills, empathy and ability to effectively interact with patients, visitors, family members and others who may present to Mayo Clinic. The General Services Attendant will establish and maintains a courteous, respectful, and helpful demeanor while assisting and engaging with patients, visitors, and other Mayo Clinic personnel. Responsibilities include verifying patient appointments, communicating with colleagues to gather appointment details, understanding and enforcing visitor policies, screening, greeting patients and visitors, and assisting with navigation. The role primarily involves working at patient-designated buildings to ensure policy enforcement and monitor flow. Additional duties include remaining calm during stressful situations, de-escalating conflicts, and supporting with wheelchair and stretcher transportation, specimen delivery, and other logistical tasks. The position may also involve driving Mayo Clinic vehicles for courier runs and shuttle services. The role requires working varied hours, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, with rotating days off.
A high school diploma/GED is required. Minimum of one year of customer service, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making experience through paid or educational settings. Evidence of conflict management skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Exemption Status: Nonexempt
Compensation: $20.00 - $22.71/hour
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Schedule: Full Time, 80 hours/pay period, with shifts primarily from 9:30am to 6:00pm or 10:30am to 7:00pm, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
