Job description

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking a full-time psychiatrist with the rank of Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor on the non‑tenure Clinician‑Educator track. The candidate will join a rich, collaborative environment with other clinicians and scientists in the Feinberg School of Medicine and throughout the University. We are expanding our clinical and teaching services in all areas of inpatient care, outpatient care, and consultation‑liaison psychiatry, Neuroscience, and integrated medicine.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) is an 894‑bed academic medical center hospital that is the primary teaching affiliate for the Feinberg School of Medicine and has nearly 1,900 affiliated physicians representing virtually every medical specialty. Northwestern Memorial Hospital ranks among the top hospitals in the nation and is recognized for providing exemplary patient care and innovative advancements in a variety of clinical areas including cardiovascular care; oncology; neurology and neurosurgery; geriatrics; solid organ and soft tissue transplants; orthopedics; and women’s health at its Prentice Women’s Hospital.

Qualified candidates will have a strong clinical background in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of mental illnesses. We are specifically seeking someone with interest and expertise in bipolar disorder. Candidates will have board certification in Psychiatry. Candidates that are board‑eligible or certified in another psychiatry discipline such as Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, etc. will be given special consideration. Applicants will also have well‑developed competencies that facilitate their work with varied communities and patients with multi‑dimensional identities.

The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.

The expected base pay range for this position is $225,000 - $250,000.

Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
