Job summary

General Mills Operations, LLC is seeking a General Labor - Grain Elevator in Superior, WI. The role starts at $26.41 per hour with 8- or 10-hour shifts and overtime as needed.

You will support packaging, processing, sanitation, and startup/shutdown activities in a fast-paced, food-manufacturing environment. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, can lift up to 50 lbs, and are able to work in diverse conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school education or GED is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work 8- or 10-hour shifts with overtime as needed.
  • Must qualify for TWIC and be able to work in a food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle high quality food ingredients in a large grain elevator facility.
  • Operate and coordinate with experienced teams on shift.
  • Perform sanitation, cleaning and maintain warehouse/railcar areas.
  • Inspect, load, unload railcars and support startup/changeover activities.
  • Follow HACCP food safety processes and document procedures.

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information
  • 8- or 10-hour shifts (business need determines shift schedule)
  • 8-hour shift: Monday - Friday from 7am - 3pm
  • 10-hour shift: Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday from 7am – 5pm
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency events.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • As part of our manufacturing team, you will:
  • Handle high quality food ingredients that are eaten EVERYDAY, NATIONWIDE Use TECHNOLOGY in an industry-leading facility
  • Work with HIGH-LEVEL operators on EXPERIENCED teams that are looking to pass down their knowledge to workers WILLING TO LEARN and get paid doing it
  • CHALLENGE yourself to get the JOB DONE RIGHT and gain skills to take with you to your next opportunity.
  • Operate powered industrial vehicles including Forklift and Locomotives
  • Perform sanitation, cleaning, and maintaining warehouse and railcar areas (internal and external to plant)
  • Inspect, clean, load, and unload railcars
  • Execute all required HACCP food safety processes and documentation
  • Participate in startup, changeover, operation, and shut down of operating equipment
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school education or GED
  • Must be able to qualify for a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) - paid by company
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment - PPE) such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net, and gloves (when required)
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
