We are expanding our Eye Care Center and seeking a board-certified Ophthalmologist with excellent clinical and surgical skills. Ideally, we prefer a fellowship-trained specialist in glaucoma treatment. However, due to our expansion and commitment to Ophthalmology at Mary Washington Healthcare, we will also consider a General Ophthalmologist.
The Ophthalmologist will be responsible for comprehensive eye care, focusing on surgical services. Our facilities include two main hospitals, a Level II Trauma center, and a state-of-the-art outpatient surgical center, the Mary Washington Healthcare's Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center (FASC). FASC was recognized as a Leapfrog Top Ambulatory Surgery Center in 2021, one of only 13 centers nationally to receive this award.
The ideal candidate is a board-certified Ophthalmologist with a Virginia license, possessing excellent clinical and surgical skills, competent in comprehensive/general Ophthalmology. They should have excellent communication skills, be committed to growing the practice, and contribute to a positive work environment for both patients and staff.

Located 55 miles south of Washington, D.C., and 55 miles north of Richmond, VA, Fredericksburg is part of the Northern Virginia region. It is considered the southernmost suburb of Washington, D.C., situated on the Rappahannock River. Tourism plays a significant role in the local economy, attracting approximately 1.5 million visitors annually. Fredericksburg hosts several major retail and commercial centers. Major employers include the University of Mary Washington, Mary Washington Healthcare, GEICO, and the Federal Government, with Marine Base Quantico and the Pentagon within easy driving distance. Many residents commute to Washington, Richmond, and neighboring counties.
