The Division of Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of general nephrology, including advanced clinical experience in the evaluation and management of acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease across all stages, kidney failure, and dialysis (in-center and home modalities), with a demonstrated record of clinical excellence, teaching effectiveness, and contributions to academic clinical practice. Additional expertise in areas such as glomerular disease, onco-nephrology, or hypertension is welcome. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Nephrology.

Teaching responsibilities may include providing clinical education, supervision, and mentorship to medical students, internal medicine residents, and nephrology fellows at the Perelman School of Medicine, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and affiliated Penn Medicine sites. Responsibilities may also include leading educational activities, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting the professional development of trainees through bedside teaching, clinical supervision, and formal educational sessions.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with complex kidney diseases, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Responsibilities may include ambulatory general nephrology care, inpatient nephrology consultations, and management of patients receiving in-center and home dialysis at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and affiliated clinical sites. The successful candidate may also contribute to clinical program development, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary care coordination, with opportunities for clinical leadership based on experience and the needs of the Division.

The Division of Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks an experienced general nephrologist for an Associate Professor position on the Academic Clinician track.

The Division is one of the nation's leading academic nephrology programs, with a long tradition of excellence in patient care, education, and discovery. Faculty provide comprehensive kidney care across general and consultative nephrology, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and in-center and home dialysis, and train nephrology fellows in an ACGME-accredited fellowship program. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, collegial group of clinicians, educators, and investigators, with access to the clinical, educational, and research resources of Penn Medicine.

We seek an accomplished clinician with a demonstrated record of excellence in patient care, clinical teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in general nephrology and a commitment to mentoring trainees, supporting the development of clinical services, and contributing to the continued growth of the Division. Candidates with additional expertise in home dialysis, glomerular disease, onco-nephrology, or hypertension are encouraged to apply.

Participation in clinical research, quality improvement, and educational scholarship is encouraged and supported but not required. Faculty on the Academic Clinician track are expected to maintain an active, high-quality teaching commitment (100 teaching credits per year). There will be an expectation of the ability of the selected candidate to provide management and/or leadership. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
