We are seeking a dedicated General Merchandise Department Manager to join Meijer at our Fairfield, OH location. The Department Manager is responsible for team member engagement, driving recognition, feedback, coaching, performance management, training, development, and succession planning. The role involves directing Leads and Team Leaders, managing area operations and financials (shrink, productivity, safety, staffing, conflict resolution), and serving as a steward of the Meijer culture.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Engaging with team members to ensure onboarding, training, development, coaching, and feedback support success.
  • Identifying talent and engaging in career discussions to support staffing and a diversified talent pipeline.
  • Upholding Meijer standards through candid discussions and fostering growth within the organization.
  • Overseeing area operations and financial results, executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity, and owning budget line items.
  • Driving safety and compliance storewide, managing store condition, and following all procedures.
  • Guiding Team Leaders and Leads in assigning daily work and training needs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
