Summary:
A growing maritime transportation and infrastructure firm is seeking a General Manager to lead its tug and barge operations along with the associated shipyard. This role is responsible for overseeing fleet performance, shipyard productivity, safety compliance, budgeting, and overall business strategy. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with deep maritime experience and strong operational, financial, and personnel management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead daily operations of tugboats, barges, and shipyard activities

Develop and manage operational budgets and cost control measures

Ensure compliance with maritime laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations

Supervise vessel construction, repairs, and maintenance

Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and route optimization

Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities

Recruit, train, and lead a cross-functional maritime and shipyard workforce

Implement risk management strategies and emergency response protocols

Drive strategic growth and innovation across operations

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)

10+ years in the maritime industry with at least 5 years in a senior operational role

Proven experience managing a marine fleet and shipyard

Strong background in financial oversight, safety compliance, and project management

Certifications: STCW, ISM Code, and OSHA preferred
