Job description

General Manager - Skilled Nursing (Austin, TX)

Austin, TX

General Manager - Skilled Nursing
Location: Austin, TX
Compensation:

$150-$200 + Bonus + Equity

ABOUT THE COMPANY

We are fixing US healthcare by building an AI-native physical care platform, starting with home health. Home health is a $140B industry generating less than $10B in EBITDA — roughly 40% of revenue is consumed by pure administrative waste. We automate that waste with AI, creating a fundamentally different cost structure that lets us rapidly take market share by serving the 30% of patients who go untreated today.

Every dollar of revenue we generate removes two dollars from the healthcare system. If we succeed, so does US healthcare.

Our platform operates at materially higher gross margins than traditional home health providers. We pay clinicians more, strip out their admin burden, and unlock scale economics that have eluded this fragmented industry for decades. We are backed by world-class investors — Felicis, Bain Capital Ventures, BoxGroup, and Optum Ventures — and scaling nationally through organic growth and acquisition.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring General Managers to own and operate individual markets as we scale nationally. This is a P&L ownership role. You will run your market — a metropolitan area or MSA — as your own business. You own the census, the margin, the team, the clinical quality, and the growth trajectory.

Some GMs will take over existing operations and transform them. Others will stand up new markets from scratch, including post-acquisition integrations. All will operate with the intensity, ownership, and judgment of a founder running a business backed by a growth-stage platform and top-tier investors. All GMs receive a robust onboarding program to learn the industry and the business before stepping into the seat.

WHAT THE GM OWNS

Market P&L

  • Full accountability for revenue, census growth, gross margin, and unit economics
  • Drive census growth in partnership with Sales — translate referral pipeline into admitted, scheduled, and served patients
  • Leverage data and AI-driven tooling for daily resource allocation decisions that convert top-line growth into bottom-line results

Operations

  • Run daily execution across scheduling, staffing, clinical compliance, and service delivery
  • Single point of accountability for compliance, survey readiness, and clinical quality in your market
  • Partner cross-functionally with centralized Technology, Compliance, and Operations — you own local outcomes

Team

  • Hire, develop, and lead your market's operations team — Schedulers, Patient Care Coordinators, Clinical Managers, Sales Reps, and field clinicians
  • Build bench strength ahead of volume; sequence hiring and training to support growth, not just maintain currentoperations
  • Set clear expectations, coach through structured routines, and make the hard calls on performance

Platform

  • Serve as the critical feedback loop between field operations and our AI/product teams
  • Be the voice of your market to leadership: what's working, what's not, and what you need to win
WHO YOU ARE

You are a high-ceiling, low-ego operator who wants to own a real business and a real team — not a workstream or a slide deck. You have run complex, people-heavy operations before and you are looking for a role where performance is rewarded with real upside and increasing scope.

Must-Have Experience

  • People leadership — you know how to lead others, set a high bar, and build trust through clear expectations and direct feedback
  • Operational execution at intensity — you have built and managed operational systems across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Team building at scale — you have hired, onboarded, and scaled teams in operationally intensive environments and can cite specific sourcing strategies, hiring mistakes, and resulting process changes
  • Performance management — you have made difficult calls: coaching plans, demotions, terminations. You act decisively and can walk through the judgment behind each decision
  • Data-driven problem solving — you are comfortable with data, can build a simple model quickly, and always get to the "so what"

How You Operate

  • Owner, not advisor. You want to be on the hook for the P&L — and you are energized by that accountability
  • Builder, not maintainer. You are energized by standing up new markets, fixing broken operations, and scaling what works
  • Intensity is your default. You manage multiple competing priorities without getting overwhelmed
  • Systems over heroics. You solve problems by building process and infrastructure, not individual effort that does not scale
  • People leader. You set a clear standard, give direct feedback, and build trust across all levels
  • Low ego, high standards. No task is beneath you if it helps the team win

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in PE-backed operating companies or multi-site service businesses
  • Experience managing through rapid growth, post-acquisition integrations, or turnarounds
  • Military experience
  • Multi-site or multi-market operational leadership
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled operations or real-time operational instrumentation

What We Don't Require

Home health or healthcare experience is not required. Strong operators from logistics, field services, staffing, or marketplace businesses translate well. Operational execution capability is what matters.

COMPENSATION & GROWTH
  • Competitive base + annual performance bonus tied directly to your market's P&L outcomes across compliance, census growth, operational execution, and patient satisfaction
  • Equity participation — you are building enterprise value, and your compensation reflects that
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and 401(k) matching
  • Clear growth path — top-performing GMs take on multi-market responsibility and step into regional and platform-level leadership as we scale
