The Role

The General Manager, Prepared Foods role involves comprehensive ownership and strategic leadership of Strategy, Merchandising, Pricing, and Production for FreshDirect’s Prepared Foods department. Responsibilities include providing inspirational leadership, developing long-term business plans and action strategies, and setting financial goals for profitable growth. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive business initiatives and optimize results. Developing and nurturing strategic vendor relationships to identify synergies and capitalize on market opportunities is a key aspect of the role. The General Manager of Prepared Foods will be responsible for leading and developing a team of passionate category experts, operators, and culinary professionals, and for driving a culture of winning through customer-centricity. The ideal candidate has demonstrated success leading a cross-functional team, preferably in a Manufacturing setting. They should demonstrate a firm handle on commercial and operational KPIs and have proven experience leading a team through a strategic transformation.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and sets strategy for Category Management, Merchandising and Pricing for Prepared Foods.
  • Directs Prepared Foods department priorities to maximize sales growth & profitability, including making recommendations on equipment procurement and buy vs. make decisions.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to guide Category Management, Production, and R&D teams.
  • Develop long-term business plan strategies, roadmaps, and action plans to grow penetration of FreshDirect’s Prepared Foods business.
  • Create goals that achieve financial objectives and support the strategic visions of the department and organization.
  • P&L ownership of Prepared Foods business, including Sales, Gross Margin, Scrap, and Labor.
  • Manage, evaluate, mentor, train and develop teams to make decisions within their scope of responsibility
  • Collaborate and work cross functionally with various teams in order to effectively drive and execute business initiatives.
  • Develop and nurture strategic vendor relationships required to identify synergies, promote mutual growth, maximize resources, ensure consumer focus and capitalize on market opportunities.

What You Bring

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills
  • Analytically minded with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and exceptional follow-through
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Excel
  • Significant project management experience, and an ability to manage projects with high visibility to completion
  • Demonstrated success developing and building strong teams
  • 10-15 years’ experience in Grocery Retail, eCommerce, or related industry

  • The expected compensation for this role is $169,827-$199,796-per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
