We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the launch and ongoing operations of a new high-end fitness and wellness club in Port Chester, New York.
This is a hands‑on executive leadership opportunity for an accomplished fitness, wellness, hospitality, or membership‑based business leader who combines strong commercial instincts with exceptional operational and people leadership.
The General Manager will serve as the operating leader and public face of the club, overseeing the full P&L, membership sales, member experience, team leadership, daily operations, and club‑level delivery of fitness, recovery, Pilates, and ancillary services.
The club will combine high‑design surroundings, best‑in‑class equipment, recovery services, Pilates, boutique‑style programming, and premium hospitality to create a differentiated fitness and wellness experience.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a flagship location while working with an experienced ownership group and established finance, marketing, design, construction, and administrative resources.
Provide hands‑on leadership for all aspects of club operations, including membership sales, member experience, fitness and wellness programming, staffing, facilities, and daily operations.
Lead the club through pre‑opening preparation, launch, and ongoing operations.
Coordinate with ownership, project teams, designers, architects, engineers, vendors, and other partners throughout the opening process.
Ensure membership billing, CRM, access control, scheduling, point‑of‑sale, reporting, security, and emergency systems are properly implemented and maintained.
Establish effective daily, weekly, and monthly operating procedures and management routines.
Maintain high standards for cleanliness, ambiance, equipment availability, preventive maintenance, safety, and presentation throughout the facility.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment, safety, accessibility, health, licensing, privacy, and membership‑contract requirements.
Maintain appropriate emergency procedures, incident reporting, insurance documentation, and required staff certifications.
Assume full responsibility for the club's P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue, payroll, controllable expenses, capital requests, and operating contribution.
Develop and lead the club's membership and revenue strategy.
Drive membership sales through lead generation, tours, trial experiences, referrals, community partnerships, retention, and win‑back initiatives.
Create a strong sales culture and coach the team on pipeline management, follow‑up, conversion, and relationship‑building.
Maintain pricing and promotional discipline consistent with the club's premium positioning.
Maximize appropriate revenue opportunities across membership dues, personal training, small‑group training, Pilates, recovery, and other approved ancillary services.
Monitor financial and operating performance, identify trends, and take corrective action when necessary.
Effectively manage labor and resources while maintaining premium service standards.
Establish and maintain a premium hospitality culture throughout the club.
Ensure members receive a consistently exceptional experience from their initial introduction and onboarding through their ongoing membership.
Develop effective new‑member onboarding and engagement practices.
Create opportunities to connect members with appropriate equipment, classes, recovery services, Pilates, and coaching programs.
Monitor member feedback and ensure concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
Partner with functional leaders to maintain consistent quality in class scheduling, programming, instructor performance, and overall member experience.
Serve as a visible presence throughout the facility and build strong relationships with members.
Represent the club within the Port Chester community and develop relationships with prospective members, neighboring businesses, and community partners.
Recruit, select, onboard, train, and develop department leaders and front‑line team members.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, expectations, and accountability throughout the organization.
Create a service‑driven culture centered on ownership, urgency, integrity, respect, hospitality, and disciplined follow‑through.
Lead regular team meetings, one‑on‑one coaching, department reviews, recognition, and performance management.

Approximately 8+ years of progressive leadership experience within fitness, wellness, hospitality, or another high‑touch membership‑based business.
At least 3 years of experience leading a complex, multi‑department operation as a General Manager, Club Manager, or comparable senior operator.
Demonstrated full P&L ownership, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, revenue growth, expense control, and financial reporting.
Proven ability to build and lead strong sales and service cultures.
Demonstrated success improving sales conversion, membership retention, and overall commercial performance.
Experience recruiting, coaching, developing, and retaining managers and front‑line teams within a service‑intensive environment.
Experience with a new opening, major relaunch, or operational transformation is strongly preferred.
Ability to create structure and maintain accountability within a fast‑moving environment.
Strong working knowledge of membership‑management systems, CRM platforms, scheduling systems, point‑of‑sale systems, reporting, and performance dashboards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the executive presence necessary to represent the organization with members, ownership, business partners, and the community.
Experience within high‑end, design‑led, or hospitality‑forward fitness and wellness environments.
Understanding of the service expectations associated with affluent and quality‑conscious members.
Familiarity with Westchester County, Fairfield County, and the greater New York fitness and wellness market.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant operating experience.
Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain certification within the company's required onboarding period.
Additional recognized fitness, wellness, or hospitality credentials are beneficial.
