Job summary

Via is seeking a General Manager to lead an on-site intermodal transit service in the Midwest, based in Sioux Falls. You will manage drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and on-ground staff while building strong relationships with driver partners, customers, and local organizations.

You will develop clear metrics, report results weekly, and work closely with Via’s senior management to optimize operations, scheduling, and resource allocation while ensuring regulatory compliance and high customer

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of operations management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Local to Sioux Falls, SD or willing to relocate (Sioux Falls, SD; Rochester, MN).

  • Manage on-site daily operations of Via’s Midwest service.
  • Prioritize operational issues and coordinate drivers, dispatchers, and schedule round-the-clock teams.
  • Lead, coach and develop a large on-ground team of drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and support staff.
  • Be the face of the operation; build relationships with driver partners, customers, and local organizations.
  • Liaise with Via senior management and external partners.
  • Develop and report KPIs; monitor performance and priorities weekly.
  • Prepare reports and analyze data to improve operational processes and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and regulations.

AsGeneral Manager, you will manage a first-of-its-kind, intermodal transit service while gaining exposure to a fast-paced tech company. This is not a role where you will be following a playbook, you will be building the plane while flying it - making it a challenging people-facing role that spans entrepreneurship, business development and operations management. What You'll Do:
  • Manage the on-site daily operations of Via’s service in the Midwest region
  • Prioritize operational issues as a real-time point of contact for drivers and dispatchers and provide creative solutions for scheduling of a round-the-clock team
  • Lead, coach and develop a large team of drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other on the ground team members: fostering a collaborative, cohesive, and energetic environment
  • Be the face of the operation; develop relationships with driver partners, customers, community leaders, and local organizations
  • Liaise closely with Via senior management and Via’s external partners
  • Develop clear metrics for the team and visibility into results against KPIs and priorities to the on a weekly basis
  • Prepare reports and analyze data to improve operational processes, ensure resources are properly allocated, and maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local and company policies, procedures and regulations on service operations
Who You Are:
  • Experienced operations manager, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience and hold a Bachelor's degree
  • Must be local to one of Via's operations or willing to relocate (eg. Sioux Falls, SD; Rochester, MN)

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable.
  • Base salary range: $110,000-$160,000 / year
