South Post Oak Recycling Center is a family owned and operated business since 1994. We recycle and buy nonferrous and ferrous metals as well as electronics. We’ve been a trusted partner and recycler to numerous companies and people for over 26 years. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee daily operations, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the company meets its financial and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, team leadership, and a passion for sustainability.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency and achieve long-term business goals.
• Analyze market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.
• Formulate policies and procedures that align with the company’s mission and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the daily operations of the recycling facility, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.
• Implement best practices in recycling and waste management to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
• Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence.
• Analyze financial reports and data to identify areas for cost reduction and increased profitability.
• Oversee billing, invoicing, and financial transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to recycling and waste management.
• Measure and report on the company’s environmental performance and sustainability goals.
• Stay current with advancements in recycling technologies and integrate innovative solutions where appropriate.
• Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, and strategic initiatives
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and community meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field, preferred, OR at least of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the recycling, or related industry.
• Proven track record of leadership and team management.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
• Occasional travel may be required for business meetings, conferences, and client visits.
• The role may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions within the recycling facility.
• Frequent bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
