Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals, and expenses, as well as generating various forecasts.
  • Monitors financial reports/statements and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Establishes and monitors personnel policies; develops training and professional development programs.
  • Ensures Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
  • Maintains sound organizational plan and initiates improvements as needed.
  • Maintains PGA and CMAA memberships; attends workshops to stay updated.
  • Oversees maintenance of facility assets and coordinates marketing programs.
  • Ensures high standards for food and beverage service on the property.
  • Implements policies for multiple departments and ensures quality standards.
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, planning, directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates.

Education

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Meadowcreek Golf Course, located in Charlottesville, VA, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a General Manager! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate of Troon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Essential Duties
  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals, and expenses, as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, etc.) business volume forecasts.
  • Monitors monthly and other financial reports/statements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the facility and takes effective corrective action when necessary.
  • Establishes basic personnel policy, initiates and establishes basic personnel policy, initiates and monitors policies relating to personnel actions and training, along with professional development programs.
  • Ensures all Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
  • Develops, maintains, and administers a sound organizational plan and initiates improvements as necessary.
  • Maintains membership with the PGA and CMAA, and other professional associations. Attends workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all the facility’s physical assets and each facility.
  • Coordinates marketing programs to promote the facility’s services to potential customers.
  • Ensures the highest standards for food and beverage service on the property.
  • Implements policies and procedures for multiple departments, including compliance with all company standards relating to the quality of products and services.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly manages department members that may include, but are not limited to: Head Professional(s), Golf Course Superintendent(s), Tournament Coordinator, Director, Instruction, etc.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly stands, walks, and sits.
  • Occasionally, may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, taste, or smell.
  • Regularly uses hands to finger, feel, or handle, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears.
  • Occasionally lifts to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses
  • Class A member of PGA/LPGA member
Job Knowledge, Skill, And Ability Preferences
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
