Job summary

Sparrows Point Country Club in Dundalk, MD, is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead a hospitality-focused property under Troon. Responsibilities include budgeting, financial monitoring, HR policy leadership, operations oversight, and marketing coordination to drive guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has a BA and relevant experience, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, and will manage a team across multiple departments while upholding company standards.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in English for communication with staff and customers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals, and expenses, and generates forecasts.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports and takes corrective action.
  • Establishes personnel policies and staff development programs.
  • Ensures HR procedures are followed by management staff.
  • Develops and maintains an organizational plan and implements improvements.
  • Coordinates marketing programs to promote the facility’s services.
  • Ensures high standards for food and beverage service.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, assigns, and directs staff; evaluates performance.
  • Manages department heads and training programs.

We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part ofTroon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Annual compensation

$110,000 to $120,000 (Depending on Experience)

  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals, and expenses, as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, etc.) business volume forecasts.
  • Monitors monthly and other financial reports/statements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the facility and takes effective corrective action when necessary.
  • Establishes basic personnel policy, initiates and establishes basic personnel policy, initiates and monitors policies relating to personnel actions and training, along with professional development programs.
  • Ensures all Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
  • Develops, maintains, and administers a sound organizational plan and initiates improvements as necessary.
  • Maintains membership with the PGA and CMAA, and other professional associations. Attends workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all the facility’s physical assets and each facility.
  • Coordinates marketing programs to promote the facility’s services to potential customers.
  • Ensures the highest standards for food and beverage service on the property.
  • Implements policies and procedures for multiple departments, including compliance with all company standards relating to the quality of products and services.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly manages department members that may include, but are not limited to: Head Professional(s), Golf Course Superintendent(s), Tournament Coordinator, Director, Instruction, etc.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Multi-course facilities may require more experience.)

Physical Demands:

Regularly stands, walks, and sits.

Occasionally, may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, taste, or smell.

Regularly uses hands to finger, feel, or handle, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears.

Occasionally lifts to 50 pounds.

Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.

Noise level is moderate.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
