General Manager (Fabrication or Manufacturing Leadership Exp. Req.) Description

Our client, a leader in stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a General Manager to oversee all business operations for their branch in Portland, Maine. This role is ideal for a strategic, growth-minded leader with a background in manufacturing or fabrication. You will manage a team of 21 employees, including 7 direct reports, and play a key role in shaping business direction, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving financial performance. The successful candidate will be people-first, financially astute, and eager to implement KPIs through a newly adopted ERP system. This is a terrific opportunity to make a mark in a growing company backed by a multi-entity parent group.

General Manager (Fabrication or Manufacturing Leadership Exp. Req.) Responsibilities

• Lead all functional areas, including plant operations, sales, purchasing, and administration
• Develop long-term business strategy and growth objectives in collaboration with leadership
• Analyze monthly financials and make data-driven decisions to improve profitability
• Coordinate with the Plant Manager on shop workflow, resource planning, and scheduling
• Conduct regular meetings with Project Managers to review job progress and delivery timelines
• Support business development through customer meetings and sales planning
• Review and negotiate contracts regarding pricing, terms, and delivery requirements
• Utilize the ERP system to establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Conduct performance reviews and support the professional development of team members
• Oversee raw material procurement and invoice approvals
• Review custom fabrication bids to ensure accuracy and profitability
• Collaborate with the accounting team on month-end and year-end financial closings
• Participate in cross-company leadership meetings with peer GMs and executives
• Manage facility improvements, expansions, and capital upgrade projects

• Experience in industrial fabrication or manufacturing is required
• 5+ years of team management experience is required
• Strong financial acumen, including operational costs, reporting, & KPIs, is required
• Ability to work 100% on-site is required
