DESCRIPTION:

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the office's ongoing business success. This includes revenue, program execution, financial performance, and employee development. Priorities include achieving successful sales results through Business Source development and the effective implementation of proven processes, with an emphasis on developing disciplined leaders and consistent performance measurement. The GM also facilitates efficient interaction with critical corporate support teams, including IT and Software Development, Creative Services, the National Resource Group, the National Sales team, and Accounting.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Develop strategic plans for optimized productivity.
  • Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing

employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative

approaches for improvement.

  • Uphold standards of excellence and the highest quality.
  • Seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships (lunches, hotel drops, CVB partnerships, etc.)
  • Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas.

  • Know the personal goals and values of each teammate: show you sincerely care.

BUSINESS & SYSTEMS PROCESSES

  • Know which are critical.
  • Know why they are more effective, efficient, and/or a differentiator-competitive edge

  • Make leaders aware of problems; do not use system weaknesses as excuses but as a way to better the system.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Know each Account Executive’s status and associated goals
  • Know the office financial forecast, goals, and status.
  • Review income statements for significant changes in revenue categorization and expenses.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

New Revenue and Existing Revenue

  • Determine sales targets and work with RVP on KPI goals and how to get there actions and frequency
  • Set weekly tasks for Account Executives. Strive for proactive touches such as

(face to face, phone calls or something sincerely personal) with a target(s) every day.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • 10 years of experience in a related area, preferably DMC landscape, currently in or previously a Director of Operations and/or Director of Sales within a destination management company.
  • A vision to see the big picture and can lead a team to success, leading by example and with a positive and professional attitude.

SCHEDULE: This position is based on client needs and will require you to work days, evenings, and/or nights, as well as holidays and weekends, as needed.
