Job summary

Cartel Roasting Co. in Phoenix seeks a General Manager to lead our cafés. You’ll work hands-on with teams, coach staff, and own daily store performance, guest experience, and beverage quality.

Job description

We’re looking for a General Manager to help lead our Phoenix cafés. This role is for someone who enjoys building strong teams, creating a great experience for guests, and taking ownership of how their locations perform day to day.

Our General Managers are hands-on leaders. You’ll spend time in our cafés working alongside teams while also coaching employees, managing store performance, keeping an eye on labor and waste, and making sure each location is running the way it should.

This is a full-time salaried role with benefits, coffee perks, and paid time off.

Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Phoenix locations they oversee, with a focus on both the employee and guest experience.

You’ll lead teams day to day, set expectations, coach and develop employees, and make sure Cartel’s standards for service, beverage quality, cleanliness, and hospitality are consistently met across locations.

You’ll also own the business side of your locations. General Managers are responsible for understanding store performance and working with the Retail Operations Manager to grow sales, manage labor, reduce waste, and identify opportunities to improve the business.

This is a hands-on role. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable moving between locations, leading a shift, coaching an employee, reviewing store performance, solving an operational problem, and connecting with the communities around our cafés.

• Build relationships within the surrounding communities and look for opportunities to grow store traffic and engagement
• Work behind the bar and alongside teams as part of regular store operations

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with leadership experience in coffee, restaurants, hospitality, retail, or another fast-paced customer-facing environment.

• Have strong customer service and communication skills
• Have or can obtain an Arizona Food Handler Card

Coffee experience is a plus, but it isn’t the only way to be successful in this role. Experience leading teams in restaurants, food and beverage, hospitality, retail, or another customer-facing environment can translate well here too.

Compensation & Benefits

• This is a full-time, salaried position with an annual salary of $50,000.
