Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a General Manager responsible for sales growth, customer retention, profitability, and safety across plant operations in Ohio. You will lead the management team, drive the budget, and ensure regulatory compliance while coordinating material flow and distribution of finished goods.

Responsibilities include building staff capability, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing transportation across rail, truck, and barge modes.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years in midlevel management in an industrial or plant setting.
• BS degree preferred; advanced certifications a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee activities of personnel, equipment, and fleet in raw material processing and distribution.
• Develop and mentor management staff including Office, Fleet, and Plant Managers.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and safety rules.
• Develop, implement, and monitor annual plant budget with monthly expenditures.
• Approve accounts payable and ensure proper corporate procedures.
• Recruit and hire plant, fleet, and admin personnel; select trainees.
• Establish wage structures subject to corporate approval.
• Train employees and manage supplier relationships, seeking new suppliers.
• Lead safety programs and prioritize plant safety.
• Manage plant transportation needs across multiple modes.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Manages and coordinates the activities of all personnel, property, plant equipment, and fleet engaged in the acquisition and processing of raw material and storage and distribution of finished goods.
• Responsible for the development of the management staff including Office Manager, Fleet Manager, Plant Manager and others who impact the performance of the facility.
• Ensures facility compliance with Corporate policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Develops, implements, and monitors annual plant budget; reviews monthly expenditures.
• Approves accounts payables ensuring all Corporate accounting procedures all followed.
• Recruits and hires plant, fleet, and administrative personnel; selects participants for management training program.
• Establishes and maintains appropriate wage rates for personnel subject to Corporate approval.
• Responsible for proper training of all employees.
• Monitors relationships with raw material suppliers; resolves issues when necessary; continuously monitors geographic area for new suppliers.
• Manages safety program and is ultimately responsible for plant safety; maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 or more years working in a midlevel management position; experience must be in an industrial or plant setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in the rendering industry a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in agri-business or related field preferred.
• Work well with others in a team-based environment.
• Communicates clearly both verbally or in written form; excellent analytical skills.
• Leadership ability; able to direct personnel.
• Requires minimum supervision; makes timely, accurate judgments regarding production and process quality.
• Highly organized; superior time management skills.
