Our Cloud9 Cannabis location is hiring a General Manager that will be responsible for overseeing and managing our new retail dispensary in Schaumburg, IL! The General Manager will oversee all people and process management duties within the dispensary location. Their core focus is managing all staff, inventory, and customer relationships, as well as tracking financial goals for the dispensary, among several other on-site duties. This role reports directly to the Director of Retail at Cloud9 Cannabis.

  • Please note: this role's start date will vary depending on the store opening timeline. We anticipate a start date in June or July of 2025.

This individual will demonstrate leadership qualities to positively coach, reinforce, and continuously provide feedback to the retail team. This individual must be motivated, positive, and eager to lead our dispensary through business operations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Team and Leadership Functions
  • Hire, manage and cross-train staff members in all relevant task areas.
  • Manage individual team member performance reviews on an annual basis.
  • Be a cultural leader for all team members to hold as an example for the organization.
  • Protecting store assets, facilities, and team members by ensuring all team members’ adherence to operational guidelines and standards, compliance with all safety and security policies, and through proper functioning and maintenance of store equipment.
  • P&L Functions
  • Meet revenue goals with holistic management practices, staff training, and customer relations.
  • Work with Director of Retail to create deals and promotions, set competitive pricing, and sell in-house brands.
  • Logistical Functions
  • Oversee inventory management processes: intake, reconciliation, and all relevant compliance functions.
  • Create a culture of compliance through staff training, self-education, and relationship building with State Inspectors.
  • Manage all in-store cash flow: till setting, cash handling, and cash depositing.
  • Manage all supply ordering for the dispensary: paper products, office supplies, replacement supplies, etc.
  • Be the front line of maintenance for the facility, actively communicating any facility needs with leadership team.
  • Customer Relations Functions
  • Create a culture of customer service that promotes loyalty and retention.
  • Effectively train staff on all company processes, products, and service philosophy to give customers the best dispensary experience.
  • Build relationships with customers by being active on the sales floor, communicating deals and promotions, and working staff to improve customer relations no matter the circumstance.
  • Ensuring customer feedback and concerns are addressed within a timely manner.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field, operations, hospitality, management or project management preferred; Equivalent experience without a degree also considered.
  • Knowledge of the cannabis industry as it relates to cash handling, product knowledge, inventory process knowledge, compliance, and audits.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managerial position in a specialized retail environment overseeing one to multiple locations required.
  • Proficiency using Google suite and Microsoft Office suite, LeafLogix, METRC, etc.
  • 21 years of age with a valid driver.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks as it pertains to Illinois cannabis laws.

Compensation: $65,000 USD - $72,000 USD
