Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation (U.S.) is seeking a General Manager in Sacramento to lead service, repair, maintenance and modernization activities within the region. You will drive recovery efforts for units outside the portfolio, oversee New Installations, and ensure P&L accountability while aligning with safety and quality initiatives.

The role requires building strong customer relationships, directing a team, and delivering on annual plans and budgets to meet financial and operational

Qualifications

  • MBA or MA preferred; BA/BS degree required
  • 5+ years in various assignments within elevator/ service-oriented business; managing full P&L preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel; SAP experience preferred

Your Main Responsibilities

The General Manager will provide management of company's activities and functions relating to the ongoing service, repair, maintenance and retention of all Schindler and other products existing within our portfolio as well as driving all recovery efforts for units outside our portfolio in an assigned geographic span. The General Manager will oversee the Modernization activities (sales and operations) in the same assigned geography, as well as serve as the local connection point (resources, support and P &L) for the related New Installations activities). All this work is to be fulfilled in a manner which achieves customer satisfaction as well as the strategic business objectives of the region.

  • Develop and execute annual regional business operations plans and budgets for service, repair and modernization in support of the territory’s financial and non-financial objectives and support the implementation of territory quality and operations initiatives.
  • Develop and execute a strategic, sustainable plan to deliver high quality service and grow loyalty with customers across all three product lines.
  • Ensure coordination and execution on all product safety responsibilities/initiatives in partnership with Field Quality Excellence organization including execution of proper testing and technical training.
  • Serve as the geographic focal point for New Installation activity included providing project resources where required and ensuring P & L oversight.
  • Manage the cancellation avoidance process on all accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and influential industry consultants through personal contact and staff assignments.
  • Grow portfolio unit count and value above market standards, with fixed price repairs driving the immediate business.
  • Develop and execute market plan to direct the sale of company products and services for orders entered objective relating to price, volume, mix and market share across the various district load centers.
  • Manage, mentor and lead a team to deliver and drive their KPI’s using appropriate performance management methods.
  • Plan, schedule and assign workload requirements interfacing skill levels of field and administrative personnel to the needs of the operation through PMS job elements, activities and performance reviews.
  • Initiate procedures and leadership practices to create a business environment for participative management; pro-active labor relations with local business agents; maintain high morale of subordinates and be strong, aggressive supporter of business unit’s management philosophy and practices.
  • Set expectations for Field Technician engagement by ensuring the completion of on-time installations, maintenance quality walks, route reviews, performance reviews and ride-alongs.
  • Manage field service activities for parts inventory, company tools, vehicles and other fixed assets for most cost-effective results. Responsible for managing net working capital and overseeing appropriate asset management measures and billing procedures. Responsible for legal interface of procedures like collection efforts and contractual disputes
  • Drive process and tooling compliance across service Sales & Ops

Base Salary $164,200 - $205,300 The above represents the typical salary range for this position. Revisions to the range may be considered based on your experience, education, location, demonstrated skills, and alignment with business priorities. Please note that the compensation listed reflects only base salary and does not include commissions or longer-term incentives.

What You Bring

Education

  • MBA or MA in related field, preferred
  • BA/BS degree required; Preferred major in Business, Management, or Engineering
  • Ability to understand financial statements; legal awareness to contract terms and conditions
  • 5+ years in various assignments within the Company, in the Elevator industry, or in another service-oriented business. Experience managing a full P&L for an industrial company, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. SAP experience is preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experince perferred; Experince supervising a unionized workforce is a plus.
  • Excellent writen and verbal comunication skills.
