GENERAL MANAGER - ALTERNATE ENDING BEER CO.
We're hiring a General Manager to lead the front-of-house operations at Alternate Ending Beer Co., a fast-growing brewery and restaurant rooted in creativity, community, and hospitality. This is a full-time leadership position for someone who thrives in a high-energy environment, brings a sharp eye for detail, and knows how to build and inspire a team.
The GM is responsible for cultivating a service-first culture, maintaining the highest standards in guest experience, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. You'll work alongside the owner, brewery and kitchen leadership, and fellow managers to create a seamless and memorable experience for every guest-whether they're grabbing a pint or joining us for dinner and a movie.
Key Responsibilities
· Team Leadership: Hire, train, and manage FOH staff in collaboration with ownership and department leads; foster a positive, professional culture rooted in hospitality and teamwork.
· Service Standards: Lead pre-shift meetings, maintain floor presence, and serve as the primary liaison between FOH and BOH teams.
· Scheduling & Payroll: Create and approve FOH schedules, manage payroll and timekeeping with the Head of Finance, and ensure smooth shift coverage.
· Cash Handling & Reporting: Oversee deposits, reconcile tips, manage till balances, and ensure accurate nightly closeouts.
· Guest Relations: Be the face of AE during service-engaging with guests, addressing feedback, and ensuring an exceptional experience.
· Training & Culture: Ensure onboarding processes and continuous training reflect AE's values and evolving goals.
· Health & Compliance: Uphold sanitation and safety standards; ensure all FOH operations meet NJ State Liquor Authority regulations.
· System Proficiency: Confidently use Toast, Resy, Shopify, Margin Edge, Google Workspace, and other platforms that keep AE running.
· Event & Merch Oversight: Support special events and collaborate on merchandise organization and presentation.
· Strategic Involvement: Work with leadership on budget goals, operations, marketing efforts, and long-term planning.
Qualifications
· Minimum 2-3 years of GM or high-level restaurant/hospitality management experience
· Strong communication and leadership skills
· Ability to multitask in a dynamic service environment
· Passion for craft beer and community-driven hospitality
· Familiarity with restaurant software platforms and reporting tools
· Cicerone certification (or willingness to obtain)
· Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours
· Lift up to 50 lbs; handle bending, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motion
· Occasional exposure to outdoor weather and kitchen heat
