Job Summary
The General Manager for Corporate Restaurant Operations manages and assumes responsibility for all functions of a Papa John's restaurant to ensure restaurant profitability. This is accomplished by being a self‑sufficient leader, making quality decisions, ensuring proper planning, forecasting, and systems are in place. The role includes execution of all company policies, procedures, programs, and systems, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ethical business practices. The General Manager oversees all operational aspects of the restaurant, including taking over Operations Manager duties when that position is unavailable or unfilled. Operations Managers, Manager Designates, and Shift Leaders report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Monitor product quality and customer service standards, identify deficiencies and correct them.
- Respond professionally and promptly to all customer concerns or issues.
- Collect and share customer feedback to improve operations and build brand loyalty.
- Oversee training and execution of quality standards.
- Manage sales goals against budget and prior year, monitor and address deficiencies in sales trends such as ticket average and order frequency.
- Manage profit goals against budget, ensuring food, labor and other controllable costs stay within budget; correct deviations using the FOCUS System.
- Execute administrative, cash management duties, and inventory control.
- Ensure restaurant cleanliness, equipment operation, safety and security standards; oversee preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Recruit, coach, and develop staff; conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions up to termination.
- Implement team member recognition programs to reward and retain high performing team members.
- Lead local restaurant marketing and community presence to increase sales.
Qualifications
- Two years of successful restaurant management or supervision experience preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Serv‑Safe or local/state food service certification.
- Basic accounting skills, including invoice reconciliation and financial statement analysis.
- Cash management experience.
- Bilingual in certain markets (optional).
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, vehicle, and ability to drive; must be 18 years of age or older.
- Work long hours (50+ per week) including nights, weekends and emergencies.
- Analytical and planning skills, ability to use data for operational excellence.
