Job description

The Voyager Inn - Downtown Anchorage, Alaska
About the Opportunity

The Voyager Inn is seeking a hands‑on General Manager to lead our 40-room boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Anchorage.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced hotel leader who enjoys being involved in the day‑to‑day operation and wants the opportunity to make a direct impact. With a smaller property and team, our General Manager will be highly visible, work closely with associates and guests, and take ownership of the hotel’s overall performance.

We are looking to fill this position quickly and are seeking a dependable, motivated leader who can step in, build relationships with the team, and keep the hotel moving forward.

What We Offer

Eligible team members may enjoy:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Company‑paid life insurance
  • Hotel room discounts
  • Career growth and advancement opportunities
  • Leadership and professional development programs
  • Employee discount programs for travel, entertainment, wellness, pet insurance, and more
What You'll Do
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the hotel.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership and support to Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other hotel operations.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop hotel associates.
  • Build a positive, accountable, and guest‑focused work environment.
  • Monitor guest feedback and respond promptly to concerns.
  • Ensure guestrooms and public areas consistently meet cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Manage hotel labor, expenses, purchasing, and operating costs.
  • Review financial and operational reports and take action to improve performance.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor occupancy, rates, and overall hotel performance.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, community partners, and guests.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with corporate and operational leadership to achieve property goals.
  • Remain actively involved in hotel operations and step in where needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support the success of the hotel.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous hotel leadership experience required.
  • General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, or similar hotel leadership experience preferred.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the hotel, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
The Right Fit

The Voyager Inn is a smaller property, so this is not a General Manager position where you'll spend the entire day behind a desk. We're looking for someone who enjoys knowing their team, interacting with guests, walking the property, solving problems, and jumping in when needed.

If you're an experienced hotel leader looking for an opportunity where you can truly take ownership of a property and see the impact of your leadership, we'd like to hear from you.

Hospitality Expectations

Our hotels operate seven (7) days a week, twenty‑four (24) hours a day. The General Manager is expected to provide leadership based on the operational needs of the property and be available to respond to hotel needs as appropriate.

Upon employment, all associates are required to comply with JL Hospitality Management policies, procedures, safety standards, and requirements for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.

Equal Employment Opportunity

JL Hospitality Management, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
