Summary

Responds to emergencies and performs related duties as assigned or as become apparent. Performs overall light maintenance duties as assigned. Provides support to any trade as requested by supervisors. Keeps accurate records and reports any equipment malfunctions/problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Driver’s License and meet Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to be authorized as a driver.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal disturbance.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and climb ladders.
• Good communication skills and sound judgment.
• Physical ability to perform all job duties.
• Ability to understand and utilize the work order process.
• Ability to obtain OEHS certification for N-95 and SCBA upon employment, per OEHS and OSHA regulations, and maintain these certifications.

Other Important Information About This Position:

This is an essential personnel position. If required to work during a closure, you must provide current contact information and maintain communication with TNPRC. Failure to report when requested may result in disciplinary action.

The TNPRC maintains Biosafety Level 3 facilities and handles diverse infectious agents. Depending on risk assessments, vaccinations may be required.

This position involves working in BSL3 containment areas with additional requirements, including:

• Passing a US Department of Justice Security Risk Assessment.
• Ability to perform duties while wearing respiratory protection.
• Participation in drug and alcohol testing programs.
