Job summary

Chimes is seeking a maintenance technician for a DC-area facility, performing repairs and renovations across walls, ceilings, roofs, and fixtures. The role requires adherence to safety rules, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and comfortable with a 5:00am–1:30pm shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform alterations involving construction repairs, renovations, fabrications and modifications of building and office surfaces.
• Maintain and repair walls, doors, frames, windows, ceilings, roofs, floors, and other building components.
• Modify, install, and repair structures, partitions, cabinets, and furniture.
• Sand, scrape, paint, stain, and finish shelves, cabinets, and furniture as assigned.
• Install or replace building hardware including locks and door closers.
• Execute repairs on roofing materials, shelving, clocks, and related items.
• Assist with locksmith work, tiling, masonry, painting, and cabinet making.
• Follow safety guidelines and work calmly under supervision and schedules.

Set Pay Rate: $26.68

SHIFT: 5:00am-1:30pm

Essential Functions:

• Perform alterations involving construction repairs, renovations, fabrications and modifications of building and office surfaces.
• Performs maintenance and repair of walls, doors, frames, windows, window frames, forms, ceilings, roofs, floors, all types of framing, shelving, tables, benches, cabinets, counters, countertops and facings, signs, scaffolds, and different building components such as wood, wood substitutes, metal, Masonite board, plastics, laminates, sheet rock, paneling, etc.
• Modifies, installs, and assembles, removes or repairs structures, partitions, walls, cabinets, furniture, roofs, ceilings, and floor coverings.
• Sands, scrapes, paints, stains, varnishes shelves, cabinets and furniture as assigned.
• Install, repair, or replaces building hardware including locks, door closers, door hinges and/or stops.
• Repairs, replaces or installs roofing materials, shelves, pictures, posters, clocks, toilet paper dispensers, and other items or accessories as assigned.
• Other tasks, such as locksmith work, tile setting, masonry, painting, glazing, and cabinet making.
• Comply with priorities for the flow of work
• Use technology for the completion of specified job duties
• Use and care for equipment properly following all safety requirements
• Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule
• Wear ID badge(s) at all times while performing work under this contract.
• Follow instructions
• Attend and participate in all meetings and activities to facilitate professional development

Other requirements:

• Valid driver’s license from state of residence and ability to drive

Essential Personnel:

This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience:

• A minimum of five (2) years of experience working in a Maintenance Trade
• Extremely high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to perform quality work whilefollowing safety procedures
• Must be knowledgeable of and able to apply all local, state, and federal codes
• Must be able to work OT if and when needed
