Job summary

Action Facilities Management, Inc. is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to perform broad maintenance and repair tasks in a commercial setting.

The role covers HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, and related duties, with a Monday–Friday shift from 10:30am to 7:00pm and a pay rate of $36.53 per hour total compensation. The candidate should have 2 years of hands-on experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team while

Qualifications

• 2 years recent experience in building operations, repair, and maintenance or in related trades.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and email applications desirable.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, ability to work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair chillers and HVAC equipment, boilers, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Patch walls and ceilings with plaster or compound and repair concrete floors/sidewalks.
• Paint structures and replace damaged components; hang doors and install locks; replace windows.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery; support road/parking lot upkeep.
• Follow safety procedures and document work; communicate effectively with team and supervisors.

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, HVAC, and electrical work.Shift: Monday - Friday, 10:30am - 7:00pmPay Rate: $36.53 per hour total compensationEssential Job Functions:Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing: chillers and chilled water systems; building HVAC equipment; boilers and hot water heating systems; domestic water and plumbing systems; electrical systems including lighting, motors, starters, contractors, etc.Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motorsUsing plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilingsRepairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toiletsPainting structures and equipmentRepairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalksReplacing damaged paneling and floor tilesHanging doors and installing door locksReplacing broken window panesPerforming general maintenance on equipment and machineryMaintenance of Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.Maintenance of concrete and asphalt roads, parking lots and sidewalks.Other duties as assigned.Required Skills, Experience, and Education:2 years recent experience (within past 5 years) in building operations, repair, and maintenance or in an occupation such as a general mechanic, maintenance electrician, maintenance plumber, etc.Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)Strong organizational skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to effectively present information and respond to questionsProficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail applicationsAbility to organize and prioritize job duties and assignmentsAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to work independentlyAbility to effectively utilize available resources to maximize productivityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Minimum High School Diploma or equivalentPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
