Job description

WinnCompanies is searching for an adaptable and dependable General Maintenance Technician to join our military housing team located at Fort McCoy, WI.

In this role, you will perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, office buildings, residential areas, grounds, and parking lots. You will also ensure that all service is performed safely and results in favorable customer feedback.

This opportunity offers a typical work schedule: Monday through Friday with occasional on-call activity.

Additionally, please note that this position is located at a federal facility. In accordance with the REAL ID Act, effective May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant driver's license/ID is required to access the federal facility.

Responsibilities
  1. Complete Change of Occupancy Maintenance work and property management requirements.
  2. Complete repairs as directed by the immediate supervisor or other management representatives.
  3. Transport, install, and connect appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
  4. Transport equipment, furnishings, and appliances to job sites.
  5. Repair and fabricate window screens, door screens, and door frames.
  6. Remove floor tile, sheet vinyl, ceramic tiles, and plywood. Remove damaged drywall.
  7. Respond to and complete after-hours emergency and urgent repairs.
  8. Complete and submit all required paperwork accurately and promptly.
  9. Update work order status, including time, materials, and notes on mobile devices.
  10. Keep supervisor informed of activities, results, and potential problems, and recommend corrective actions.
  11. Work professionally and cooperatively with customers, staff, contractors, monitors, and the public.
  12. Attend relevant workshops, seminars, meetings, and training.
  13. Maintain vehicle and inventory as prescribed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • A valid driver's license in good standing, meeting company safety standards.
  • Proficiency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, or appliance repair.
  • Availability for on-call work during off-hours.
  • Basic tools and equipment for daily duties.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with web-based applications.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English and follow instructions.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
  • This position requires a REAL ID compliant driver's license/ID due to federal facility access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical training.
