Job description

WinnCompanies is searching for a General Maintenance Technician - Change of Occupancy Maintenance to join our military housing team at Fort Cavazos, TX.

In this role, you will perform Change of Occupancy Maintenance functions across the community, including rental units, office buildings, residential areas, grounds, and parking lots. All services must be performed safely, ensuring positive customer feedback.

Note: This position is located at a federal facility. In accordance with the REAL ID Act, effective May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant driver's license/ID is required to access the facility.

Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose, repair, troubleshoot, and replace electrical systems and components from the point of demarcation into a house.
  2. Rewire housing zones or complete houses.
  3. Change out electrical panel boxes.
  4. Complete service calls, Change of Occupancy Maintenance work, and property management requirements.
  5. Transport, install, and connect appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
  6. Transport equipment, furnishings, and appliances to job sites; load and unload trucks.
  7. Respond to and complete on-call emergency and urgent repairs after hours.
  8. Operate power tools and equipment safely.
  9. Complete repairs as directed by supervisors or management.
  10. Update work order status with accurate details on mobile devices.
  11. Keep supervisors informed of activities, results, and potential issues, recommending corrective actions.
  12. Maintain professionalism and cooperate when interacting with customers, staff, contractors, monitors, and the public.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, meeting company driving standards.
  • Proficiency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, or appliances.
  • Own basic tools and equipment necessary for duties.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with web applications.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English for instructions and supervision.
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Note: A REAL ID compliant license is required for access to the federal facility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical training.
