Job summary

Petco is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform building repairs and maintenance across our office environments in the United States. You will handle carpet, plumbing, lighting and related tasks, ensuring associate safety and professional appearance.

The role requires independence, strong time management and basic computer skills to use Excel, Outlook and Word. We value prior facilities experience, knowledge of HVAC systems and ability to work with a Building Management/Work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 4 years related experience in facilities maintenance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical (HVAC) systems.
• Experience with a Building Management and Work Order system preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform building repairs/maintenance including carpet, plumbing, lighting, etc. to ensure associate safety and professionalism.
• Make recommendations to campus supervisor when repairs/maintenance/moves require assistance from tradesmen or contractors.
• Set-up, remove, and relocate cubicles as per provided plan.
• Able to work independently with excellent time management.
• May provide input to lower level personnel on larger projects such as phase build-outs.

Essential Job Functions:

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Perform building repairs/maintenance including but not limited to carpet, plumbing, lighting, etc. as necessary to ensure associate safety while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
• Make recommendations to campus supervisor when repairs/maintenance/moves require assistance from tradesman or contracted laborers.
• Set-up, remove, and/or relocate cubicles as per provided plan
• Ability to successfully and responsibly work independently possessing excellent time management skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• May provide input to lower level, temporary personnel or subcontractors assigned to assist with larger projects such as phase build-outs or department relocations.

Work Environment:

• The work is physical in nature and is primarily performed indoors in an office environment where safety precautions and PPE (Proper Protective Equipment) MUST be taken/worn when using tools, paint, and other chemicals i.e.: safety glasses, face shields etc.
• Proper methods MUST be used when lifting, moving and climbing. Very little time spent sitting - mostly walking & climbing.
• A PETCO provided uniform is required to be worn every day.

Education (Required):

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Education (Preferred):

• 4 years related experience in facilities maintenance performing similar duties. Strongly prefer completion of technical school in related field.

Work Experience (Required):

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical (HVAC) systems.

Work Experience (Preferred):

• Experience with a Building Management and Work Order system preferred.

Skills:

• Must possess basic computer skill set with experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. To personally interact with all levels of associates while performing routine and non-routine tasks must be fluent in English; possessing professional verbal and written communication skills.
