Job description

WinnCompanies is seeking a General Maintenance Associate - Change of Occupancy Maintenance to join our Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes military housing team at Fort Drum, NY.

This role involves performing maintenance functions across the community, including rental units, office buildings, residential areas, grounds, and parking lots. Responsibilities include repairing building structures, electrical, plumbing, sanitary systems, and ensuring all services are performed safely, leading to positive customer feedback.

Pay Range: $17.65 to $17.85 per hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities
  1. Respond to service calls for Change of Occupancy Maintenance and other property requests.
  2. Maintain, repair, and rehabilitate property, including plumbing, electrical, and appliances.
  3. Clean public areas, rental units, and offices.
  4. Perform painting, roof repairs, lawn upkeep, debris removal, and replace lights and smoke detectors.
  5. Install and connect appliances like stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
  6. Transport and unload equipment, furnishings, and appliances.
  7. Perform emergency repairs as directed.
  8. Repair and fabricate window and door screens and frames.
  9. Dig, fill, level grounds, and operate power tools and lawn equipment.
  10. Remove floor and wall coverings.
  11. Clean rooftops, sidewalks, and driveways, ensuring work-site cleanup.
  12. Complete required paperwork accurately and timely.
  13. Keep supervisors informed of activities and issues.
  14. Maintain vehicle and inventory as prescribed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Less than 1 year relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license with good standing.
  • Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
  • Own basic tools and equipment.
  • Familiar with computers and tablets.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to read/write in English and follow instructions.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work.
  • Note: This position is at a federal facility; effective May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant driver's license/ID is required for access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical training.

$17.65 - $17.85 an hour
