Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of the district irrigation systems by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and irrigation fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all irrigation systems and general district facilities. This position is responsible for assisting the Licensed Plumber Journeyman and the Master Plumber in maintenance of the District's plumbing and heating systems.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
Acceptable driving record
Some experience and/or training in the plumbing and heating trade preferred
Must obtain Texas State Board of Plumber’s Apprentice card
Working knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
Meet the physical requirements of the position description
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of plumbing codes
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Backflow certified tester preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3 years plumbing experience preferred

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
