Job summary

UNFI is seeking a General Maintenance Associate in Champaign‑Urbana to perform repairs and routine maintenance on facility equipment and company vehicles. You will help develop preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate with other departments to address maintenance needs.

The role includes completing basic electrical work, operating hand tools, and winter weather tasks while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License.
• General mechanical knowledge with hand tools.
• Basic electrical knowledge and ability to use a multimeter.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair and preventative maintenance on building equipment including furnaces and A/C units.
• Perform light mechanical duties and assist in maintaining equipment.
• Scoop and plow snow, and salt walks in winter.
• Work with multiple departments to address maintenance needs.
• Follow supervision as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

In this role, you are responsible for all repairs and ongoing maintenance of the facility to include all equipment and company vehicles that our associates operate daily as well as maintaining the grounds and parking lot areas. You will maintain and order supplies/parts as needed while also providing recommendations to repair and replace equipment to ensure proper functioning. You will conduct regular facility inspections and assist in developing a preventative maintenance schedule. In this team, you work directly with all departments within the facility on any maintenance needs that may arise.

Schedule

Sunday - Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Basic Responsibilities

• Repair and preventative maintenance on a variety of building equipment that includes furnaces, A/C units, ventilation devices, dock plates, power doors, sprinkler systems, refrigeration system, etc.
• Light mechanical duties
• Scoop snow, plow snow and salt walks in the wintertime
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
• All other job-related duties may be assigned
