Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License and college-approved driving record.
  • Five years of experience/training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry trades.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and up to 100 lbs occasionally and pass pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds equipment.
  • Repair lighting fixtures, switches and receptacles.
  • Perform plumbing repairs/replacement of sinks, faucets, and related equipment.
  • Repair of furniture and office equipment; installation of whiteboards, screens, bulletin boards, and cabinets.
  • Repair drywall and prep for painting, caulking, and door repairs.
  • Assist HVAC and other maintenance staff.
  • Provide preventative maintenance of pools and related systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Under supervision, the General Maintenance position performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the following maintenance fields: HVAC , carpenter, electrician, equipment mechanic, and plumber-fitter. Must have acquired sufficient training and experience to complete repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC , and grounds equipment areas.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License and College approved driving record.
  • Five (5) years experience/training in HVAC , plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry trades; documentation provided by employee per Article XV, Section F.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Ability to supervise others.
  • Proven record of dependability and reliability.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively and up to 100 lbs. occasionally and pass the Schoolcraft College pre-employment physical examination.
