Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Construction Supervisor to lead the construction and renovation of SCDC facilities in Columbia. You will apply your knowledge of building codes, blueprints, and trades to ensure safe, compliant projects and coordinate an inmate work crew.

This role requires prioritizing and responding quickly to emergencies, willingness to work overtime or on-call, and completing four weeks of SCDC Basic Training after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and trades experience related to construction.
• Must have extensive knowledge of building codes and be able to read blueprints.
• Ability to supervise an inmate work crew.
• Knowledge of metal building erection and concrete forming.
• Overtime and on-call rotation may be required.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment.

SCDC Minimum Requirements

• A high school diploma and five (5) years of experience in all phases of construction field with knowledge of South Carolina Procurement Regulations.
• Must be able to supervise, direct, instruct, interact, and work with other people.
• Must be able to prioritize and handle emergency situations quickly and efficiently.
