Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a maintenance supervisor for Lieber Correctional Institution to oversee general maintenance, construction, and renovation projects at the facility.

You will develop repair programs, supervise staff, coordinate on-call responses, and manage supplies and equipment. Successful candidates must complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire and meet statewide minimum requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with trades experience in maintenance, construction, or related fields.
• Experience supervising others and coordinating maintenance projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with procurement of supplies and equipment is a plus.

• Provides assistance in the carpentry, masonry, drywall, painting, welding fabrication, maintenance and repair program.
• Supervises and completes general maintenance, construction, and renovation projects for facility.
• Establishes on-call procedures to respond to emergency general maintenance and repair calls and assures the work is promptly and properly performed.
• Determines requirements for general maintenance and repair supplies and equipment; prepares justification and requisitions for all supplies and equipment.
• Remains abreast of new general maintenance techniques, procedures, and equipment for Lieber Correctional Institution.
• Recommends the procurement of new equipment and assists in supervising installation of equipment.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

State ofSouth Carolina Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis for basis.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and three (3) years professional experience in institutional general maintenance, construction, and repair.

• Must be able to supervise, direct, instruct, and work with other people.
