The role involves handling a diverse general liability caseload, drafting, depositions, court appearances, and close collaboration with experienced attorneys to manage matters from inception to resolution.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of general liability litigation experience.
• Experience handling cases through all stages of litigation.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Deposition and court appearances are desirable.
• Admission to the New York Bar is required; NJ, CT, and/or PA Bar admission is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage general liability matters from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, legal correspondence, and other substantive documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend court appearances, conferences, mediations, and hearings.
• Negotiate settlements and advise clients throughout the litigation process.
• Managing deadlines and maintaining regular communication with clients.
• Collaborate with partners and the wider litigation team on complex matters.

Distinct is partnering with an established, multi-practice law firm looking to expand its General Liability team in Albany, New York.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with general liability experience who is looking for high-quality litigation work, greater responsibility, and a clear path for continued career progression — all within a supportive and collaborative firm offering hybrid flexibility.

The firm is open to considering attorneys at different levels of experience, from those looking to take the next step in their litigation career through to more experienced attorneys capable of independently managing a sophisticated caseload.

The Role

You’ll handle a varied general liability caseload and work closely with experienced attorneys and clients throughout the lifecycle of each matter.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing general liability matters from inception through resolution

What We’re Looking For
