Job summary

Distinct is partnering with an established, multi-practice law firm to expand its General Liability team in Albany, New York. This full-time, permanent role offers hybrid flexibility and the opportunity to handle a varied general liability caseload alongside experienced attorneys and clients through the lifecycle of each matter.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2+ years of general liability litigation experience, strong research and drafting skills, and the ability to manage a caseload

Qualifications

• 2+ years of general liability litigation experience.
• Experience managing cases through various stages of the litigation lifecycle.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Deposition and court appearance experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively within a team.
• New York Bar admission is required; additional state bar admissions are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Managing general liability matters from inception through resolution.
• Conducting legal research and developing case strategy.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery responses, legal correspondence, and other substantive documents.
• Taking and defending depositions.
• Attending court appearances, conferences, mediations, and hearings.
• Negotiating settlements and advising clients throughout the litigation process.
• Managing deadlines and maintaining regular communication with clients.
• Collaborating with partners and the wider litigation team on complex matters.

The firm is open to considering attorneys at different levels of experience, from those looking to take the next step in their litigation career through to more experienced attorneys capable of independently managing a sophisticated caseload.

The Role

You’ll handle a varied general liability caseload and work closely with experienced attorneys and clients throughout the lifecycle of each matter.
