General Liability Associate | Hybrid, Los Angeles | $150,000 to $180,000
Defense lawyers who've stood on the spot where somebody got hurt write better motions than the ones who've only seen it in photos, and plaintiff's counsel can usually tell within one deposition which sort they've got across the table.
On this job you'd be the one who goes and stands there. The practice is general liability defense and this seat gets the catastrophic injury files, the ones where the number in the demand makes everyone sit up and every expert on the other side has been paid to describe a place you haven't been to yet. The site inspections are yours, and so are the depositions and the hearings, and you get them two years into civil litigation.
You'd act for insurers and the businesses they cover, with some advisory work on top of the litigation. If you've done catastrophic injury before it helps, and if you haven't it won't stop you. Two solid years of GL defense will get you looked at, as long as your writing stands up and you've got the California Bar.
A normal two weeks:
Hybrid, home for some of the week. $150,000 to $180,000 and a bonus.
You won't need the old shoes for this bit.
