Description: The General Laborer / Utility position performs various tasks within the Gateway operations, including collecting coins from City Parking meters, meter maintenance, and handling Heavy Truck operations.

Job Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated skilled laborer to assist with parking meter maintenance and operations. Responsibilities include inspections, installation, repairs, maintenance, and testing of parking meters. Our General Laborer/ Utility staff should be proficient in technology and construction, able to respond appropriately to various situations following established policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Complete reports on meter repairs, installation, or maintenance
• Report work hazards
• Manage property check-in/out, including tools, uniforms, and vehicles
• Collect coins from parking meters on assigned routes
• Report hazards to Collection Driver
• Document all field activities
• Report meter theft or vandalism
• Respond professionally to public questions and complaints
• Complete paperwork and reports accurately and timely
• Present daily service performance reports
• Report and record parking meter conditions
• Remove parking meters as instructed
• Maintain a clean work area
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver's Class E License with a clean driving record

Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting/carrying of 15+ pounds, visual, speech, hearing, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to walk, stand, sit, and kneel outdoors in various weather conditions, with exposure to temperature extremes, dust, wet surfaces, and noise.
